Additionally, I noticed how common the “passdown” process is in Greek life, where members of fraternities and sororities privately hand off leases to their peers. This system limits access to in-demand housing to a select few, leaving others scrambling for availability. Lease Exchange was built to give everyone a fair chance at securing the apartments they truly want, without relying on luck or exclusive networks.

About the Founder
I am a UW-Madison student who has experienced firsthand the challenges of finding housing in a competitive market. Like many students, I wanted to live in the best apartments, but I often found them fully leased before I even had a chance to apply.
While working at an apartment complex, I learned how leasing works behind the scenes and realized that the system could be improved. Tenants already have valuable lease rights—they just don’t have a way to capitalize on them. Lease Exchange changes that by giving tenants more control over their lease agreements while helping others secure their housing well ahead of the traditional leasing cycle.
